1. ‘climate plan for the planet, Kidiki part of the solution’. implementation of sustainable water policy at kidiki secondary school. we want to build a testing ground with our own irrigation system and based on agroforestry. we want to plant, harvest, offer lessons. we want to set up courses in this regard. we want to raise awareness among young people and local development groups and provide an answer to drought and poverty as a result of climate change, all in collaboration with afd-leuven. we are looking for € 25,000. click here for more information.

2. the computer classroom needs upgrading. we are looking for 7/14 ICT or telecom companies that each donate € 1000 / € 500. click here for more information.

3. the vocational training centre stephen wants to turn the vtc into a ‘model school’. 15 acres are now maintained by the irrigation project. he wants to train young farmers with a focus on new technologies and ecology, expanding the herd, boosting the milk production and guiding young people to bring their products on the market. we are looking for € 7 000 for the purchase of 15 cows, a cooler and a refrigerator. click here for more information.

What is needed?

What can you do?

  • talk to sports clubs. a football, a volleyball or sports outfit works miracles.
  • talk to your local library, ask them to organise a sale of old/used books and to donate the profits to the school library of kidiki.

development groups

What is needed?

  • Because of the success of the women’s group, many new members apply. A second group is formed. We are urgently seeking new members for the Belgian branch of the women’s group who can donate € 3/month.
  • Both groups have drafted a business plan for the ‘Festivities project’: purchasing large cooking pots (€ 160), 100 plastic chairs (€ 600), 2 tents (2x € 700). The aim is to rent out all this when people want to organize a party and generate income for the group members. The Ugandan and Belgian branch of the women’s group will each finance 50% of the costs of the purchases.
  • Solar lights for the member’s families (€ 30/piece).
  • The ‘gender-equality’ project. Some of the members of the women’s group followed a workshop on gender equality. They want to share their knowledge with all members. Important support in this respect consists of hiring a theater group for help with the workshop (€ 50).
  • continue to build the storage place for the tents, the chairs, the party equipment that is offered for rent.

What can you do?

  • call to all the members of th belgian branche: convince at least one person to become a member of the Belgian branch.
